Honoring the memory of beloved employee Jesus “Jesse” Garza III with Jesse’s Joy Day.
Corpus Christi, TX – Everyone knows that one person who lights up any room and brings joy to everyone they meet. At Southern Careers Institute’s (SCI) Corpus Christi campus, that person was Jesus “Jesse” Garza III. After Jesse’s passing on July 16, 2020, the community wanted to celebrate his life and restore the joy he brought to others. Thus, Jesse’s Joy Day was born. This year, his legacy lives on at the event scheduled for July 16, at the SCI Corpus Christi campus.
“As the placement coordinator for SCI’s career services department, Jesse brightened the campus with his positive attitude, hopeful spirit, caring temperament—and his love of crazy socks,” said Tammy Newsom, SCI’s Corpus Christi campus director. “He was one in a million, and would love the idea that we’re honoring him by taking the time out of our busy day to celebrate the things that bring us joy.”
