HARLINGEN, TX / AGILITYPR.NEWS / August 18, 2026 / Southern Careers Institute (SCI) will host an internal Welding competition for students at its Harlingen Branch Campus on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. While the competition is exclusively for SCI Harlingen Branch Campus Welding students, the event is free and open to the public, providing community members and prospective students with an opportunity to experience Welding training firsthand.
Guests are invited to visit the SCI Harlingen Branch Campus at 1122 Morgan Blvd., Harlingen, TX 78550, where they can tour the campus and watch the Welding competition live.
The event offers an engaging opportunity for individuals interested in Welding and Skilled Trades to get an inside look at the Welding program, explore the campus environment, and see students put their skills into practice during a friendly competition.
“Events like this give our community an opportunity to see the dedication and hands-on work that goes into Welding training,” said Gilbert Barrera, Director of Education at the SCI Harlingen Branch Campus. “We welcome anyone interested in Welding or the Skilled Trades to come tour our Harlingen Branch Campus, meet our team and experience the competition.”
The competition is designed for current SCI Harlingen Welding students and will provide participants with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a competitive setting. Members of the public are encouraged to attend, observe the competition and tour the campus at the event.
Whether someone is considering a career in Welding, exploring Skilled Trades for the first time or simply interested in seeing welding in action, the event provides a chance to experience the program firsthand.
