BUILDING LEADERS

FOR THE REAL WORLD

ABOUT The school of BUSINESS

Business is not limited to one industry. It’s the operational backbone that keeps every organization running. Offices, clinics, logistics teams, and small businesses all rely on the same core functions: scheduling, communication, recordkeeping, purchasing, customer support, and basic financial processes. That creates steady demand for people who can stay organized, manage details, support teams, and keep day-to-day operations moving across nearly every sector.

SCI’s School of Business exists to close that gap with structured, practical training focused on real workplace expectations. Students build hands-on experience with the tools, workflows, and habits used in modern offices—from business communication and customer service to accounting fundamentals and operations support. The goal is to help students develop job-ready skills they can demonstrate in interviews: the ability to work accurately, stay organized, communicate professionally, and support the daily functions every organization depends on.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Every industry needs the same operating functions: scheduling, customer coordination, records, purchasing, payroll support, and basic finance processes. Even where automation is changing the work, replacement demand stays high for trained office workers. Students will need to train their skills to keep up with a rapidly changing economy under AI, and SCI can help those students bridge the skills gap, positioning SCI as a leader in education. BLS’s national data projects business and financial occupations will grow faster than average, with about 942,500 openings per year on average from 2024–2034 (growth plus replacement). At the occupation level, the entry lanes that align directly with School of Business pathways show the same pattern. For accounting support, bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing clerks, the projection is a 6% decline, yet it still averages about 170,000 openings per year. In a market where many openings are replacement-driven and automation shifts tasks upward, students who can demonstrate they’re dependable with details and can support operations reliably have a meaningful opportunity to compete for entry-level roles and build experience that can lead to greater responsibility over time.
