Williams, a graduate of SCI’s San Antonio North Branch Campus CDL-A program, on being named a 2026 Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence Elite 11 Semifinalist.
The Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence Award recognizes transitioning service members and veterans who have pursued careers in the professional trucking industry. Williams’ selection as an Elite 11 Semifinalist highlights his journey from a distinguished military career to professional truck driving.
Williams served 31 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major in 2022. Following his military service, he earned his CDL-A at Southern Careers Institute’s San Antonio North Branch Campus and began a new career in the trucking industry.
During his military career, Williams developed leadership, discipline, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills while serving as a leader, medic and mentor. He now applies those values behind the wheel, where he embraces the independence and responsibility associated with a career in transportation.
Beyond his professional career, Williams remains committed to supporting fellow veterans and organizations that honor and assist the military community. He regularly participates in walks, marches, hikes and other events that bring people together in service and remembrance, including activities supporting the Travis Manion Foundation.
For Williams, continuing to serve others remains an important part of his journey. He believes that simply showing up and standing beside others can make a meaningful difference. Williams shared that offering guidance, encouragement and support is one of the most powerful ways he can continue serving his country.
His recognition as an Elite 11 Semifinalist represents another milestone in a career defined by service, leadership and a commitment to helping others.
