AUSTIN, TX / AGILITYPR.NEWS / October 01, 2025 / Austin, Texas — Oct. 1 — Southern Careers Institute (SCI) is proud to announce the launch of The SCI School of Nursing, an exciting new expansion dedicated to preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals. With growing demand for skilled nurses and support staff across Texas and beyond, this launch reflects SCI’s commitment to providing students with high-quality, career-focused education.
The School of Nursing will feature three distinct pathways designed to meet students where they are in their healthcare journey:
Nurse Aide:
This program prepares students in as little as five weeks to provide basic patient care and support in settings such as rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, hospitals, and home health agencies. CNA graduates train to communicate effectively with patients and families, deliver compassionate care, and support healthcare teams with confidence.
Pre-Nursing Pathway Course Bundle:
Not a program, but a focused collection of courses available 100% online, this bundle allows students to complete essential prerequisites for eligibility for entry into SCI’s Associate of Applied Science in Nursing. Students build their knowledge in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, algebra, and academic writing—while receiving advising support to guide them toward their nursing career goals.
Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AAS):
Offered exclusively at the Brownsville Branch Campus, the AAS in Nursing is designed to equip students to sit for Registered Nurse licensure exams. Over the course of approximately 72 weeks, students gain hands-on training in areas such as medical-surgical nursing, psychiatric nursing, perinatal care, and healthcare leadership. Graduates may pursue roles in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and more.
