Southern Careers Institute to Honor Gold Star Spouses with a Day of Pampering at Southern Star Salon

Gold Star Spouses Day is Monday, April 5. To honor spouses who have lost their loved one in the line of duty, and the sacrifices their families have made for our country, Southern Careers Institute (SCI), through its SCI Cares program, will provide a day of pampering and mini-makeovers to three Gold Star spouses. The makeovers will take place on Saturday, April 3, and the public is invited to nominate a deserving Gold Star spouse to receive the services at one of our three Southern Star Salon locations.

“Hosting Gold Star Appreciation Day at our salon is a way to support families affected by war and to raise awareness about the network of resources available to those who have lost loved ones in the line of duty,” said Tammy Newsom, project director of SCI’s Southern Star Salon. “SCI Cares wants to express our appreciation for those who have lost so much but whose support and service to our country are sometimes overlooked.”
To nominate a Gold Star spouse for the makeover – which will include a haircut, color, manicure, and pedicure – send a message through the salon’s Facebook Page (links above), with their story and your contact information by Wednesday, March 31 at noon. Participants will be selected at random and announced on Thursday, April 1.
Southern Star Salon is part of Southern Careers Institute, a leader in career training and beauty professional schools in Texas. Services are provided by SCI cosmetology students and are performed under the supervision of a licensed, dedicated, experienced instructor. The salon will observe all health and safety protocols during the event, including social distancing and mandatory mask-wearing.
