CNA Classes: McAllen TX Students Can Dress for Success in These 3 Ways

Even though it’s likely that you’ll wear scrubs most days when working as a certified nursing assistant, this by no means signifies that you should dress casually for your job interview. To make a good impression with prospective employers from your very first meeting, you need to dress for success. Here are a few tips that students from CNA classes McAllen TX can use.

1. Not Too Casual, Not Too Formal

Dress too casual and it will appear as if you have little interest in the job; however, dressing too smart can be equally damaging — it may seem that you lack an understanding of what the job entails. To strike the right balance, find out what other nursing assistants at the company wear, either by calling the receptionist or human resources department or by going to see for yourself. For your interview, dress one or two levels up. This will ensure you appear smart but will also enable the hiring manager to picture you in the position. For most nursing assistant positions, black slacks or formal jeans with a fitted blouse or shirt is appropriate for an interview. Avoid low-waist pants and make sure that there are no wrinkles in your clothing.

2. Choose Your Shoes

Your shoes should be clean and comfortable and complement your clothing. The same rule applies as for your outfit: pick a pair at one or two levels higher than your normal work wear. This means that, even if you find crocs or sneakers ideal for daily tasks, opt for loafers or shoes with a low heel for your interview.

3. Think About Accessories

At the very maximum, you should wear a wedding band, a bracelet or watch, a simple necklace, and a single pair of stud earrings. Too much jewelry is distracting and communicates that you lack professionalism, especially since nursing assistants must perform many duties where jewelry could be lost or damaged or even present a danger to patients. It is best to forgo perfume entirely to show sensitivity for people who may have scent allergies.   If you want to work as a nursing assistant in McAllen, the best option is to become certified with the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), Certified EKG Technician (CET), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, or similar qualification. Enroll in CNA classes McAllen TX to receive all the training you need to begin your new career.

At SCI, the instructors are professional, and they care about what they are teaching you, as well as expect you to give 100% in return. I had problems understanding how to draw in syringes and give injections. I requested extra help from a knowledgeable instructor, and I was able to receive one-on-one training.
