Celebrate Your Career Development at Technical Schools in Corpus Christi TX

“Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.” —Malcolm Forbes Did you know that November is National Career Development Month? This month serves as a tribute to the importance of finding work that you enjoy doing. If you have been on campus for any time, you will know that the staff and instructors at Southern Careers Institute are dedicated to the career advancement of our students.

As you know  “Better training, Better Careers” is our motto –and for good reason. We do everything we can to support our students through the challenges of any other technical schools in Corpus Christi TX face: getting a good education so they can create a bright new future for themselves. The concept of “career development” hasn’t always existed. In 1908, Frank Parsons established the first vocational guidance clinic and outlined the basic principals of vocational guidance, cementing him as the founding father of vocational psychology. Since then, millions of people have performed millions of jobs.  Obviously, our concept of work has changed quite a bit and continues to evolve at an accelerated rate, with the advent of the internet, and especially web 2.0 and 3.0 platforms. It is now a common idea that not only work CAN be fun, it IS SUPPOSED to be FUN.  In fact, when you find a career you love, it doesn’t feel like work!  And if you live by one of our philosophies of “the key to lifelong earning is lifelong learning” you will fit right in one of our career-oriented certification programs. For me, my own career started out working in the higher educational setting, and the rest, they say, is history.

One of my favorite questions to ask my students is how they got into what they are doing. So why not leave a comment on how you came to choose the career path you chose. What do you most enjoy about it? How has focusing on your education and career bettered your life? So hats off to you, for the work you do now, and the work you will do in the future. Be sure to give yourself a big pat on the back for a job well done and do something nice to reward yourself, especially those who have and will make it to completion. May you be successful in your chosen career, Michelle L. Casto Job/Career Readiness Instructor
