5 Apps every Student of HVAC Training Schools Needs

In HVAC, a career focused on technology, it makes sense to utilize some of the most modern technology to assist in everything from studying to practical tasks. Before you even enroll in one of the HVAC training schools in Texas, download these essential apps and start familiarizing yourself with the subject.

1. HVAC Flashcards

The 1000 pre-made cards cover five categories — initial assessment, post test, theory, electrical power, and general review — to help you prepare for your HVAC exam. Use the cards in five different modes (study, slide show, matching, memorize, and quiz) to keep learning interesting. You can also import cards from Couser hero, Quizlet, and Flashcard exchange, all of which you can customize by changing the font and background. HVAC Flashcards is available for free on Android 2.2 and up and for $4.99 on iOS 4.3 or later.

2. HVAC Math

Another app that will help you with your studies is HVAC Math. Along with 12 practice tests on mathematical principles, the app includes a glossary of HVAC terms, flashcards, and a Question of the Day feature, enabling you to test your knowledge on a different subject daily and to explore further with the additional information. HVAC Math is available for iOS 3.0 or later.

3. HVAC Buddy

HVAC Buddy simplifies work for you as a technician. This refrigerant charging and diagnostic HVAC app enables you to determine proper refrigerant charge without the need for complex equations. Just enter the refrigerant, temperature, and pressure and the app will display the superheat, supercool, and airflow target, actual, and difference readings. Purchase for iOS 5.0 or later or Android 1.6 and up for $9.99.

4. HVAC Duct Sizer

The HVAC Duct Sizer app uses the constant friction method to size ducts to:

  • Specify total airflow
  • Analyze existing duct systems
  • Specify minimum and maximum friction loss and airflow values to generate a range of duct sizes

You can also input additional parameters, including duct shape, air temperature, and air pressure, and can view values in either English or metric units. You can also email your results to analyze them further on a computer. The app costs $5.99 for iOS 7.0 or later and for Android 2.1 and up.

5. LinkedIn

Once you have finished training, you are ready to start looking for a job. The LinkedIn app allows you to manage your professional resume, contact potential employers, and save interesting jobs. Access LinkedIn from you phone or tablet for free on iOS 7.0 or later and Android 2.3 and up.   Look for HVAC training schools that provide students with plenty of hands-on practice as well as classroom learning to put these apps into action. Graduating with experience and confidence in your abilities will improve your chances of success in your new career.
