While administrative managers have many responsibilities, they’re also compensated well for their efforts. 

According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median administration manager salary is $96,180. Furthermore, the lowest 10% of administration managers earned $55,000 while the highest 10% earned $165,470. 

An administration manager’s salary will depend on the specific industry they enter. Some of the median salaries include: 

  • Finance: $104,780
  • Professional services: $104,720
  • Local government: $93,630
  • Education: $91,420 
  • Healthcare: $88,050

Administrative managers can have a promising career if they find the right position. But first, they must receive the necessary qualifications.

Admin Manager Qualifications

There are a number of qualifications an administrative manager must possess before receiving the position. These can include: 

  • A bachelor’s degree – or, in the absence of a four-year degree, a high school diploma and the appropriate job experience or training. 
  • Work experience that reflects the individual’s ability to lead a team on a day to day basis. 

Most employers also require a number of skills for administrative managers.  Administrative managers should be excellent communicators.

They speak with their direct reports as well as their superiors on a day to day basis. Therefore, they need to be able to communicate either instructions or project status. 

Moreover, administrative managers should be analytically-inclined. This will allow them to make recommendations for improvements around the office. 

Additionally, office managers are often responsible for quality assurance. This means that they’ll have the final sign-off for most office projects or deliverables. Therefore, you need to have great attention to detail. 

Above all else, administrative managers should have leadership qualities. They’ll be looked at to lead a team and make decisions at the office. They should also know how to manage workers, assign tasks, and keep their team properly motivated.
