BROWNSVILLE, TX / AGILITYPR.NEWS / October 27, 2025 / Southern Careers Institute (SCI) is proud to announce the launch of its new Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AAS) program, now enrolling at the Brownsville Branch Campus. This program marks the debut of SCI’s newly established School of Nursing, designed to prepare students for careers as compassionate, skilled, and licensed Registered Nurses.
The AAS in Nursing program provides students with hands-on training and classroom instruction to prepare for the Registered Nurse licensure exam. Through this comprehensive curriculum, students can develop the technical, clinical, and leadership skills needed to provide quality patient care in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and community health organizations.
The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program can be completed in approximately 72 weeks with full-time enrollment. Students will train in areas such as anatomy, pharmacology, psychology, medical-surgical nursing, perinatal nursing, healthcare management, and nursing leadership.
Graduates of the program will have the opportunity to pursue Registered Nurse licensure and seek employment in a variety of healthcare environments, including:
- Hospitals and emergency rooms
- Long-term care and rehabilitation centers
- Doctors’ offices and outpatient clinics
- Community health programs
- Home health agencies and schools
