On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, staff from Southern Careers Institute’s Austin main campus joined forces with Austin Habitat for Humanity to help build an affordable home for members of their local community. The staff volunteers worked on activities such as carpentry, painting, landscaping, and more.
Housing prices have skyrocketed across Central Texas, making the idea of homeownership a distant dream for too many local families. Austin Habitat for Humanity had a great need for volunteers throughout March 2023. Filling the need for volunteers and sponsorship, Southern Careers Institute staff members partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help make the dream of homeownership a reality for a local Austin family.
The partnership between Southern Careers Institute and Austin Habitat for Humanity was an excellent opportunity for the staff to give back to the Austin community and help provide a stable, affordable home for a family in need. By working together, team members were able to make a real difference in the lives of a local family, contributing to the ongoing efforts to address the housing dilemma in Central Texas.
“The day was a success, and the Southern Careers Institute staff members were proud to have played a part in such a meaningful project,” said Rhonda Evans, campus director of Southern Careers Institute Austin. “Through their hard work and dedication, they helped to make a difference in the lives of others, embodying the spirit of community and service that is part of the makeup of Southern Careers Institute Austin.”
