Laptop Giveaway Sweepstakes Official Rules

1. Sponsor & Eligibility

Sponsor: Southern Careers Institute, 1701 W Ben White Blvd., Suite 100, Austin, TX 78704, (“Sponsor”).

Eligibility: Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence) at the time of entry. Employees, officers, directors, and agents (and their immediate family members and members ofthe same household) of the Sponsor, its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising or promotional agencies, and any other entities involved in the administration or promotion of this sweepstakes are not eligible to enter or win. Void where prohibited by law.

2. No Purchase Necessary

No purchase, payment, or enrollment in Sponsor’s programs is necessary to enter or win. A purchase or enrollment does not improve your chances of winning.

3. Promotion Period

The Sweepstakes begins on 4/7/2025 at 12:01 AM Central Time (“CT”) and ends on 5/27/2025 at 11:59 PM CT (“Promotion Period”). The Sponsor’s computer is the official time-keeping device for the Sweepstakes.

4. How to Enter

1. Online Entry:

   During the Promotion Period, visit https://careerhub.scitexas.edu/apply? and follow the on-screen instructions to create a free CareerHUB account (“Entry”).

2. Alternative Method of Entry (AMOE): To enter without creating a CareerHUB account, hand-print your full name, complete address, phone number, and email address on a 3″ x 5″ card and mail it in an envelope with proper postage to: 1701 W Ben White Blvd., Suite 100, Austin, TX 78704, Attn: “Laptop Giveaway Sweepstakes.” Mailed entries must be postmarked by the last day of the Promotion Period and received within five (5) business days after the Promotion Period ends. Each valid entry, whether by online sign-up or AMOE, has an equal chance of winning.

Limit: One (1) entry per person/email address during the entire Promotion Period, regardless of method of entry.

5. Prize

Prize: A laptop computer (make/model at Sponsor’s discretion). All prize details are at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Prize is non-transferable and may not be substituted or redeemed for cash, except at the Sponsor’s discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize (or any portion thereof) with one of comparable or greater value.

6. Odds of Winning

Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received.

7. Winner Selection & Notification

On or about 5/28/25, the Sponsor will conduct a random drawing from all eligible entries received during the Promotion Period. The potential winner will be notified by email or phone at the contact information provided at the time of entry (or on the mail-in entry). The potential winner must respond to the notification within 72 hours or the Sponsor may select an alternate winner, in its sole discretion. The Sponsor is not responsible for any notification that is lost, intercepted, or not received for any reason. Before being declared an official winner, the potential winner may be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and release of liability/publicity (where permitted by law).

8. Taxes

The winner is solely responsible for any federal, state, and local taxes, as well as any other fees or costs associated with the prize. If required by law, Sponsor will issue a Form 1099-MISC to the winner and file a copy with the IRS for the fair market value of the prize. The winner will be required to provide the Sponsor with a valid Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number via Form W-9 prior to receiving the prize.

9. Privacy Practices

Any personal information collected in connection with this Sweepstakes is subject to the Sponsor’s Privacy Policy, available at https://scitexas.edu/privacy-policy. By entering, you agree to the Sponsor’s use of your personal information as described in that policy and for purposes of administering this Sweepstakes.

10. General Conditions

1. Release of Liability: By participating, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and all others associated with the development or execution of this Sweepstakes from any and all liability with respect to or in any way arising from this Sweepstakes or acceptance, possession, or use of any prize (including any travel or activity related thereto).
2. Publicity: Except where prohibited by law, acceptance of a prize constitutes winner’s consent to Sponsor’s and its agents’ use of winner’s name, likeness, photograph, voice,statements, and/or hometown and state for promotional or advertising purposes in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration.
3. Right to Cancel/Modify: Sponsor reserves the right to suspend, cancel, or modify the Sweepstakes if any fraud, technical failures, or any other factor impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Sweepstakes, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.
4. Disqualifications: Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or acting in violation of these Official Rules.
5. Disputes: Any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, this Sweepstakes or the prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules.
6. Void Where Prohibited: This Sweepstakes is void where prohibited or restricted by law.

11. Winner’s Name

For the name of the winner (available after 5/28/25) or a copy of these Official Rules, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: 1701 W Ben White Blvd., Suite 100, Austin, TX 78704, Attn: “Laptop Giveaway Sweepstakes.” Requests must be received by 6/28/25.
